so ... one day I chopped off my hair!

I'll let the pictures speak!

I didn't exactly plan to chop it off, or highlight it, or yeah. I went into the salon and asked if I should chop it right before I leave, and it just happened.
We were dying my whole hair darker but I had an allergic reaction to the dye (man, my head was on serious fire!) so we did highlights instead.
So, hi, my name is 'Nadine'.
My favourite moments after were:
Anna, a young girl on the ship whom I babysit said, 'I liked it long' to which I answered, 'It's okay hun, it'll grow'.
A guy on the ship, 'What did you do today?', me, 'Well, worked in the cafe in the morning and then Sarah did my hair today', him, 'Oh, did you do something to it', 'Yeah, I cut off like five inches', 'Oh, well, it looks nice.'
This week is better than last. I had yesterday and today off since I worked all weekend, and yesterday was the ultimate change, and then today I went out for lunch and the afternoon with some friends! Lots of fun!
I learned recently through people who have read my blog who are now here, that people coming to Mercy Ships read this, so, be prepared for an amazing hair stylist! And come get Starbucks coffee from me for about $1 for a latte!
Kirsten, I miss you.

Got on a plane
It’s a long way
From me to you
It’s been a long time
Since I saw your face
And I cry
Knowing that I can’t be with you
Please understand,
God told me to take a stand
It’s tough sometimes for me to understand
So please, don’t try to take my hand

Cause I, got on a plane
And flew away
Never knowing that
Life would never be the same
And I, wasn’t running away
On that day
I was just taking a chance
And testing my aim

Now it’s been a long time
Since I said goodbye
Living here
Sometimes I ask why
But I’ll be alright
If you’re on my side
Please understand,
I needed to take a stand
It’s tough sometimes for me to understand
So please, don’t try to take my hand

Cause I, got on a plane
And flew away
Never knowing that
Life would never be the same
And I, wasn’t running away
On that day
I was just taking a chance
And testing my aim

At how far I could go
Even if the world said no
Even if everything was against me
I didn’t know how high
I could fly
But I’ve made it so far
I’m on my way home now

And I’ll, get on a plane
And fly away
Knowing full well that
Life will never ever be the same
And I’m, coming home
On my own
I’ve taken a chance
Taken my stance

Cause I, got on a plane
And flew away
Never knowing that
Life would never be the same
And I, wasn’t running away
On that day
I was just taking a chance
And testing my aim

This week.

It's a long week so far.
But it's been mostly good.
Monday was screening day. AMAZING! I think I'm basically a nurse now!
Tuesday the president of Liberia came on the ship. Worked VERY hard all day.
Wednesday there was a large pastor's conference. I set up the entire dining room, plates, cups, mugs, drinks, tablecloths and toppers for them all. That was a LONG LONG LONG day.
Today was fun. I got to work in the cafe again. Work wasn't so crazy. I made a bunch of birthday cards in the afternoon which was good. I'm on duty so I just finished a tour for new crew and luckily I only have one more thing to do right now.
Tomorrow should be nice. Hopefully!
I've been writing lots of songs lately. There is a possibility that I can record some on here, so I probably will!
I hope you're doing good.
Miss you!

The day I lost my heart, yet again.

Today I had the amazing opportunity to go to an orphange. I had the most amazing time just playing and taking pictures with the kids. I always try to be culterally sensative and not take photo's but after playing for awhile with them I brought it out and needless to say they were thrilled.

As you can probably tell seeing she is in most, this little one in the bottom picture captured my heart the most. Her name is Patricia and she is just beautiful.
Today was a great day. I was glad to have a chance to get out. This was the first 'ministy' type thing that I have been able to do. It was amazing.
John 14: 18-19
I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live.
He was pierced for our transgressions
He was crushed for our sins
The punishment that brought us peace was upon Him
And by His wounds, by His wounds we are healed
We are healed by Your sacrifice
And the life that You gave
We are healed for You paid the price
By Your grace we are saved
We are saved
What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
